The best phase of development of life is during the childhood, as children are the future of the nation and back bone of economic development of the country. As known, childhood is the father of manhood no one can ignore this stage. The development of a child includes good health, good education, good family environment, proper training, balance diet and a lot of love. But in our present context about 47% of the total children are far from primary education and more than 44% of children of age 5 are underweight mainly because of poverty and lack of social awareness. Estimated 65% people are believed to be below poverty line, and very low per capital income. During these conditions of poverty people die due to starvation, exploitation and torture by land lords, natural disasters, road mishap, long term violence and their children become destitute and orphans. They will have no one to be looked after. Even the nearest guardians don't look after them because of the same poverty or they don't want to share their burden. These children are either left to work at home and at hotels as servant or in the street as rag pickers and beggars, but what about those who have no one to look after, no food no shelter, no education, what would they become in the future? Considering all above matters TEAM Nepal was established in December 2007 and is a non-profitable and non-government organization. TN is founded to assist the children of above categories and discriminated communities who live in the remote and hilly region of Nepal. All of such tribes are as Sunuwar, Tamang, Gurung, Magar, Thami, Damai, Rai, Lumbu, Tharu, Sarki, Kami, Pode, Danuwar etc, who are ethnic people of the village.
Statistics of Children
It is reported that at least 500 children have died during the decade long conflict related violence since 1996. The true number of children killed is likely to be far higher then this figure. Nepal has been gripped by a brutal internal armed conflict between the security forces and Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) rebels for the last 11 years, during which more than 13,000 people have lost their lives and many lost their relatives and business so as the child become orphan. It is estimated that since the beginning of the conflict the CPN (Maoist) have abducted tens of thousands of school children, along with their teachers, for "political education" sessions. Typically, (Maoist) cadres enter a high school and force all the students and teachers to accompany them to a remote location where hundreds of children from across the area are forcibly gathered for these sessions. . In July 2005 the International Labour Organisation (ILO) predicted that between 10,000 and 15,000 children would be displaced in Nepal during 2005 alone. A survey in 1997 estimated that there were 261,000 children working for wages in Nepal. It is estimated that at least 1 million children in Nepal are working as child labourers in difficult circumstances, often as slaves in carpet factories, brick kilns, domestic service, agriculture, plantations, construction sites, transportation industry, stone quarries, and mines and as migrant workers. It is estimated that at least 10,600 children are working as domestics in Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur in valley and over 31,000 are in the 33 municipalities of Nepal. The study findings estimated that 12,000 children are trafficked every year from Nepal. The trafficking of children is a considerable problem. While accurate numbers are not available, it is estimated that 6,000 to 8,000 Nepalese girls are annually trafficked out of Nepal to India between the age of 9 and 16, which is increasing every year. A survey sponsored by the Central Social Welfare Board indicated that the population of Nepalese women and child victims of commercial sexual exploitation in Indian brothels would be around 70,000 to 100,000, of which 30% were below 18 and 40% were induced when they were below 18 years of age.

TEAM Nepal (TN) and the (Irish NGO.s name) have quite a successful working partnership. Over our past relationships projects have been collaborated that involved both the expertise of both TEAM Nepal and Irish NGO. Mero Ghar (My Home) is a project that has been identified by both stakeholders as an immediate need of Nepal’s Orphan Children with both parties having vested interests in seeing the project through. The agreement stands that all the financial assistance to make the project independent during the cycle of 3 years will be supplied by Irish NGO while TEAM Nepal will utilize all the resources in the best way, manages every activity to ensure Mero Ghar (My Home)will be independent with in maximum of 4 years with the help of all the strategy. From the outset of the project the Orphan Children that were acknowledged as having the most immediate need for support were identified in different districts around Nepal.
With this in mind and also considering the principles and mission of TEAM Nepal an Implementation strategy was formulated in the following way:
1. Identify suitable site to be made into the residence for Mero Ghar (My Home)

6. Assessing over the life of the project the immediate and long term needs of the Children.
It is expected that by the end of the project cycle the home would have become self sufficient. Plans are in place to ensure this, by investigating means to supplement the houses income by diversifying options for funds.
Options that will be implemented are:
1. Identifying Businesses oversees able to work in partnership in selling Nepalese handy crafts.
2. Creating an agro business by using the houses land to crop crops for house consumption as well as products to be sold at the local market. Thus freeing up the cost of living.
It is also expected that through out the project cycle, new orphan children will be identified and conversely absorbed into Mero Ghar (My Home) for complete support and a better future. There is a target that by 2009; 100 Orphan children situated in and out of the Sindhupalchock district and all over Nepal will some under the support of the project.

Overall the projects core is that of sustainability. Firstly the endeavor of securing the future of orphan children through various capacity building programs goes some way in ensuring that the destiny of said children is both sustainable and achievable. By relying on local resources and local knowledge TEAM will ensure that the children are given the best chance in determining their own futures when the time should so arise when they have the opportunity to forge their own destiny. By building their capacity in technical, as well as life skills it is the intention of the project that any children coming under the auspice of the project Mero Ghar (My Home)will have both the confidence and the knowledge to take on the world at large.
Financial sustainability
Financial Sustainability for project inception is granted through TEAM Nepal funds. Moreover with the implementation of the project there will two phases in process that will ensure that the financial support of the project is secured in the long term
- the creation of a charitable business in a developed international market selling Nepalese Handicrafts and other assorted consumer goods, with 100% of profits being channelled back into TEAM Nepal (Mero Ghar (My Home))
- The creation of the house farm to be used to as a resource for a staple diet as well as a supplement income for the house.
We believe in firmly preparing our projects to be fully sustainable by the end of the projects cycle. While it is important to secure donorship as means for an income we see this process as purely intermediary and highlight the need for development and welfare projects to be able to flesh their own means for survival. Social Business or Enterprise is a concept now being forged in Nepal as a way to achieve this sustainability. TEAM Nepal stands ready, prepared and willing to facilitate and promote the process to achieve this.
Territorial sustainability
This project is intended to be self-sustainable for what those Children require the most. We aim every project to come to an end with complete sustainability and secured long term source of income. Through MOUs defined with the various partner institutions, TEAM Nepal will continue monitoring, providing assistance, and granting for necessary supplies, and necessary measures and actions to make sure everything every time is functioning well and in good manner.
MONITORING AND EVALUATION
We will carryout the Internal and External Monitoring and Evaluation of children home to secure their basic needs are fulfilled on monthly basis.
